About The Yes Project

The Yes Project is a highly successful initiative offering mentored community based work experience for students in years 10 and 11 of school.

We work with schools across North and West Yorkshire and are a team of 5 individuals focussed on providing the best and most up to date safeguarding oversight based on both "Keeping Children safe in Education 2023" guidance and guidance from APCS an umbrella Data Processing Company providing basic, standard and enhanced DBS services.

We have robust policies and procedures around mentoring school students on work experience and if you work with us you will have access to our secure safeguarding portal which contains work related risk assessments for your students, weekly reports, and our policies and related company information.

The portal has given schools the tools to evidence their robust control and oversight or our alternative provision, something which has seen positive comment from numerous Ofsted inspection of schools.

Stats from Our
Weekly Reports

We can help improve the prospects of nearly 80% of students that are referred to  us. There are no guarantees but we are increasingly seeing employers use the project as a way of bringing young people into their company. It allows them to test suitability and utilise the flexible nature of the project to avoid putting themselves and the student under too much pressure. And with the YES Project overseeing the placement, we can keep things in perspective and deal with problems as they arise.

Approx. 25% of students are diagnosed or have ADHD symptoms
Approx. 26% require support for SEMH symptoms
Approx. 30% have an EHCP
Approx. 6% are diagnosed with Autism/AS

benefits for students, school & parents

One of the main benefits of using the YES Project is that the student can set clear, achievable goals for themselves including gaining employment, an apprenticeship or place at college. There are also other direct benefits for the school, the parents and the community when a student fully engages in work experience.

bespoke support

Every student requires an individual package that suits their personality and interests and therefore we assess the suitability of both the placement and the employer before embarking on the program.

We visit students every week and for the more  anxious or nervous individual, we take our time preparing them for work before they actually begin placement.

We also provide attendance monitoring for the days we may not visit them. This sits under our comprehensive safeguarding and quality policies that demonstrate we have the experience to act or intervene appropriately with challenging students.
